Fidget Spinners. The new toy? A crazy game? An obsession? All and more.

Fidget Spinners are all the fad now.
Deceptive in its simplicity, this toy has more to it than meets the eye.
Fidget spinners are basically, small devices with ball bearings that the user can rotate between his or her fingers.
It uses the concepts of Inertia, equal balance in weight on all three sides and balance of centrifugal and centripetal forces. Imagine a tire rolling around in a circle. Now any thing that moves at a speed will ultimately stop due to friction. For the tire, it will slowly stop due to friction between the surface it is moving on and its own surface. But if instead of a surface, there were a set of ball-bearings then the roll would be enhanced. The central ring of the spinner holds little ball bearings that minimise friction enabling the spin to go spinning for an extended period.

The Experiment
The fidget spinner is one of the coolest meditative anti stress gadget. We used it to understand light and patterns.
We put it against light and shot the hell outta it.
One thing that really blew me away was that in the footage it looks like after spinning, it stops and starts spinning in the other direction. The science nerd among us tried to explain why, but then, humans nowadays have such a short attention span.

But no doubt, it is pretty cool. Watch the video and hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed shooting it.

Peace out.
